MOGADISHU(Sh. M. Network)-The minister of interior and national security for Somalia government Abdi-samad Mo’allin, made Thursday comments to announce that Mogadishu is under their full control, a day after Somali security forces foiled suicide attacks on a key meeting in Mogadishu.
“Somali security forces are at this time more vigilant than in the past. They secured the capital and stopped many deadly attacks against government institutions and army bases in Mogadishu by Al shabab,” said Somalia’s interior minister.
Wednesday’s failed suicide bomb blasts were a signal for the security achievements made by the government troops towards war on insecurity in Mogadishu.
Al shabab militants withdrew from Mogadishu in august last year after an offensive by the Somali and African Union (AU) Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces.
Following that the militants have carried out many deadly attacks, including roadside and suicide bomb blasts in the capital.
Government and African Union troops control Mogadishu while most of the country’s south and central is under Al shabab control.
